		<description>[...] Over the last few days I&#8217;ve been reading how we should use the Internet to create a &#8216;personal brand&#8217; using social networking to get into contact with prospective employers. Equally we are reminded that the likes of MySpace and Bebo are unlikely to improve your standing and reputation on the Internet. Over the last 7 years of Internet surfing I&#8217;ve been using the moniker &#8217;smiggs&#8217; indeed I&#8217;ve captured the top 3 places on google. But this nickname although unique casts my mind back to my primary school days when I first acquired the nickname as a bastardisation of my surname so I think it is perhaps time for a change it&#8217;ll still be a useful semi-anonymous label but for professional and personal I need something a little more open.
