I’d clarify that and say, “The sooner you start, the better.”

Colonel Harland Sanders didn’t really begin to build his personal brand until he was 65 years old. Of course, he was given the title of “Kentucky Colonel” when he was 45, so he had 20 years to do something with it but he waited until retirement. Then, Kentucky Fried Chicken was born.

If you are 20 or 70, start paying attention to who you are and what you present yourself as. Read people like Dan and keep up with technology. Leverage your skills and package yourself in a unique, creative way, with a little flair.

Everyone remembers Colonel Sanders crisp white suit, black string tie and cane. Find your own “Secret Recipe of Herbs and Spices” and “Kick it up a Notch.”

Is personal branding only for the younger GenY group or can a 50+ (the other generation) benefit from perosnal branding?

I remember when I revitalized my old blog, “driven to succeed” and converted it into “personal branding blog”. I was reaching out trying to gain support and bloggers such as yourselves were there. Now you see what it has become.

I founded Dan some weeks ago and I like his ideas, but I started to publish my Personal Branding videos in youtube and blip.tv some time before. There are only a problem, they are in spanish.

I agree… I believe Dan reached out to me right about when he started his blog. We exchanged links and I believe it was a good decision.

I too see Dan everywhere I comment. He has just the right mix of business experience/knowledge and exuberance to relate to his personal brand Community of young career start-ups.

I like his videos. They make me smile 3 yrs ago I was the youngest guy in the room, now folks like Dan are creeping up. Good!
