Finally Announcing the JibberJobber/IEEE-USA Relationship

August 7th, 2007

IEEE-USAHere is a partial press release that I’ve been authorized to post. This is very, very exciting for me. If you know the history of JibberJobber you’ll know that I was a guy that got laid off, couldn’t get a job, and figured I would fill in a gap in the job search/career management space.

A little over a year later, an announcement like this comes out. How cool is that?

IEEE-USA Partners With JibberJobber.com to Enhance Career Services

Salt Lake City, August 7, 2007 - IEEE-USA, which promotes the career interests of U.S. members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), has partnered with JibberJobber.com to enhance career services offered through the IEEE-USA website. With over 360,000 members, IEEE is the largest technical professional society in the world.

JibberJobber helps members manage network relationships, plan for future transitions, organize critical career information such as resumes, reference letters, interview responses, etc., and manage the complexities of a job search.

IEEE-USA career services already include salary benchmarking, job postings, consultants and entrepreneurs services, career-planning tools, articles and books geared towards electrical engineers and computer professionals. The addition of JibberJobber technology will allow members to manage network relationships, plan for future transitions, organize critical career information (such as resumes, reference letters, interview responses, etc.), and manage the complexities of a job search.

Jason Alba, chief executive officer of JibberJobber, said: “JibberJobber was designed to help people manage all of this information they collect during the course of their career without worrying about managing a master database. The ability to keep critical career information in one place during multiple job changes is empowering. Positioned as a central, complementary career management tool, JibberJobber allows users to manage networking relationships from various sources including social networks and offline networking events, as well as the information found on job boards and other tools.”

Alba adds: “In addition, JibberJobber has partnered with career experts including coaches and resume writers to help professionals manage their careers. Because of our ability to interface with leading edge technology, such as Google Maps, Skype, Anagram and LinkedIn, we can provide a solid career-management tool to our users. I’m very excited about the opportunities this kind of partnership brings to both us and IEEE, but more so for IEEE members.”

JibberJobber technology was integrated into IEEE-USA’s Career Navigator website (http://careers.ieeeusa.org) beginning August 3, 2007. Special features will be available only to IEEE-USA members, however, non-IEEE members can get a JibberJobber account at http://www.JibberJobber.com. For additional information on this integration contact Jason Alba, or visit http://www.JibberJobber.com.

Wow, very nice Jason. Very nice. Congrats.

So, are there plans to expand beyond the US for IEEE?

  2. Scot Herrick Says:

    Very nice, Jason.

I know that this was very hard work to get done, but this should provide a pattern for you to expand to other companies.

The interesting position you have in the marketplace is that you can market this as a strong tool while at the company and can still be used as the employee moves within the company or moves on to a different company. Like a 401(k), you can take JibberJobber with you for your career management tool.
