Sure it is! I am co-founder at JobeeHive.

The current economic slump is hitting harder than most professionals had expected. We are increasingly seeing layoffs, pink slips and cost cutting across IT sector in India. For a large percentage of the working population, this is the first time that they are facing such a grave situation. There is sense of insecurity; professionals are trying to keep themselves abreast with the situation and also look for alternatives. We have seen traffic increasing on JobeeHive.com since the time pink slips have increase in the market. Looking at the demand, we introduced a lay off tracker on JobeeHive.com. Today, the section gets the highest number of hits on the website

bad days are ahead! People need to be more careful about doing their next career hop. Know your employer before you make that move- thats exactly what JobeeHive helps you do..

@Eric, thanks for the confirmation. If anyone has a pulse on the reality of recession, with regard to hiring and job search issues, it's you.

@Sophie, thank you so much for noting that the image came from Dorothea Lange (and here I thought it just came from images.google.com). I could look at her pictures all day long... amazingly beautiful and touching. Also, regarding your thoughtful post, well-done. I honestly don't expect to see this type of thinking written publicly from someone who recently went through and landed successfully... but we don't forget, and the economy is enough to scare us into facing the elephant. I love how you end your post: "We’re in for a tough time that has to come home to each of us."

(1) Digression of a photography fan: Dorothea Lange kicked twenty different kinds of ass. That was a great image. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorothea_Lange

(2) Funny thing that, I was just trying to post my own semi-coherent thought this morning about the fact that before this recession (and perhaps depression) is over, it will have ceased to be the problems of even a large proportion of us to become the reality of ALL of us. All of our lives will be affected, just like all of our (great-)grandparents' lives were changed by the Great Depression.

It's nothing personal, you see...

I promise you it is a real recession and it started some time ago before "recession" was getting any press at all - our business is very much a leading indicator as diversity is the first to get cut when the economy slows down.

keep up the great blogging - loved your kicked in the teeth post
