About The Blog

June 15th, 2006

Jason AlbaMy name is Jason Alba. I started this blog with the idea of supporting the purpose of JibberJobber.com - to help provide tools and information to job seekers. I did not set out to be a blogger because I really didn’t have anything to say, and wasn’t really an expert in anything. But once I got started I just couldn’t stop, and I’ve been blogging every day, Monday through Friday, since I started.

Having been laid off just 2 weeks after Christmas 2005 I started a very aggressive job search. I didn’t really know what I was doing, but I sure thought I did. I wasted at least 6 weeks doing things that I thought was common sense… but got no where. At that point I decided to pull back and figure out what I was doing wrong. That’s where this whole thing began.

I opened my tracking spreadsheet and it hit me - this would be an awesome tool for the average Joe Jobseeker. Since I didn’t have any money I figured I couldn’t really charge anything for it - that’s why you can use almost all of JibberJobber for free, forever. I believe that you will be in a job search every 3 - 5 years, and that your network will play a critical role each time - that is why I consider it a tool to use forever.

I call JibberJobber a career toolset because it is more than a job search aid. It is a personal information manager, or a personal relationship manager. It incorporates the best of the best from experts around the globe, and has only improved since it was first made available in May 2006.

This blog has been personally rewarding. It has allowed me to share my thoughts and feelings, develop knew relationships, and initiate dialogue. I have heard from many of my users who have had the same experiences, from cutting my hand open to getting advice. I’m different from “the experts” in that I have not received any formal training, I’m not paid to help people find jobs, and I really don’t know how to make a good resume! I have gained an immense respect for these experts, and they have a story to tell. I hope you enjoy mine, as it comes straight from the heart, and my personal experiences.

Enjoy the blog, sign up on JibberJobber, and make sure you take control of your career!

JibberJobber is a powerful tool that lets you manage your career, from job search to relationship management to target company management (and much more). Free for life with an optional upgrade.

[...] It is a good idea, as part of your career plan, to form long lasting relationships with a select number of recruiters that specialize in your field. Having identified them and introduced yourself you have the beginnings of a professional relationship that can pay handsome dividends over your career. Check out what Jason Alba of JibberJobber has to say in his article “Love Your Recruiter:” You know that if I had a few that I had relationships with, they would have been hunting for a job for me on the day I called them. But that is based on developing those relationships! Do me a favor… no, do yourself a favor. Go to recruiting.com and browse the posts there. Look for a recruiter that might fit you industry, or your personality. Or, Google for a recruiter in your area. The time to begin this relationship is NOW, not when you need it! [...]

[...] Please take notice that I have added a running list of links to each of the articles in the series so that it is easier to navigate from one to another in the series.  I stole the idea from my friend Jason Alba over at JibberJobber.  He has a great series going on the Job Seeker’s Creed, which is well worth checking out.  So from now on, when I run a series, you will be able to look forward and backward to articles by looking for the running list at the bottom of each article. [...] Jason Alba [who everyone that reads here should already know ], founder and CEO of JibberJobber [and still no relation to Jessica] got tagged in a silly Internet game that has been going around for quite some time. 8. “Influence” peddling - is it a crime? » Confessions of an Executive Restaurant Recruiter Says:

[...] After sending him an initial email response and getting a note back from him detailing sort of what his group is looking for, I had an idea. In between my first note and his return email I had read an article on Jason Alba’s (no relation to Jessica) JibberJobber Blog about "Chicken Lists" and it got me to thinking. See I don’t’ really have a chicken list. After starting in my very first recruiting role with MRI, I had spoken to and recruited about 20 CEO’s of various sized companies. In fact when we added up potential fees for their placement, my boss got the idea that restaurant recruiting might just be lucrative… but I digress. Anyway, I decided that since I wasn’t afraid to call Mike that I might just as well do it… now! So I did just that. Mike and I had a great conversation and I gave him an idea for investment into a chain or restaurant properties not far from his office. Both Mike and I were happy to make the other’s acquaintance and I’m sure that we will be doing business in the future. [...]

  11. Ripping up the most important resume in the world - your own » Confessions of an Executive Restaurant Recruiter Says:

[...] My friend Jason Alba of JibberJobber (see the end of the article) has asked a number of recruiters and professional resume writers and coaches to participate in critiquing a resume. I was asked to do it from a recruiter’s perspective and agreed at first to just be a judge of the final work. [...]
