Pete JohnsonPete Johnson

Between creating one of the first web applications ever built within Hewlett-Packard in the mid 1990’s and reaching his current position as Chief Architect of HP.com, Pete Johnson has worked with over 400 engineers all over the world, including places like China, India, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, and Canada. He has written and delivered a wide variety of technical training as well as made presentations to Vice Presidents within the company.

While researching operating system interoperability solutions for HP Consulting, Pete wrote a number of white papers on topics such as file sharing, email, and security, the latter of which was turned into an article published in the June 1997 issue of the trade journal HP Professional. Pete also presented at the HP World trade show in 1999, describing techniques for solving common desktop computing problems remotely utilizing web technologies. Active in HP’s intellectual property initiatives, he was awarded a patent in 2002. Five more patents are pending at the U.S. Patent office, primarily relating to web technologies.

Along with his wife of 13 years and their five year old daughter, Pete is an avid Disney theme park fan, having owned annual passes for both Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California simultaneously. He blogs about how improved non-technical skills can accelerate an engineering career at http://nerdguru.net.
