You put this in when you are on the EDIT company page. There it is called Main Contact, go to edit the company, at the bottom, when you have a contact there, you can choose who the main contact is:
This should be populated when you add a log entry and the event is “send resume” – this happens on the job detail page… the options are first interview, thank you letter, send resume, etc.
This is based on the last log entry that you put in for the person… so if you add a log entry it populates with that date.
This is based on the next action item you have scheduled for them.
