About this Video Platform

This system, which has been adopted by a number of schools, including Pepperdine, UCLA, Virgina, Wisconsin, Utah and others, was designed by Jason Alba.

Jason was in a miserable job search during the good economy, back in 2006, and came up with the idea for JibberJobber.com, a web-based tool to organize and manage your job search (much like Salesforce or ACT!, but for your professional relationships, not for sales).

He wrote a book titled I’m on LinkedIn-Now What???, which became a best-seller, and started speaking and training on LinkedIn and other social tools.  He developed this video training for individuals, and recently started offering it through career centers.

If we receive positive feedback on this system we might make it available to you through your school.  Please let us know what you think!

I watched the two sample videos, and thought they were excellent. I clearly am not effectively using my Linked In account, and these videos taught me how I can change that in the future. More videos like these could really help me know how to use Linked In and other resources to my advantage in a job search.

Please make more available for (school name removed) alumni and students!

  2. Steve Booth says:

I learned things I didn’t know by watching the video (Getting the most out of the home page). I’d use it, and I’d recommend it to other contacts. I’m always attempting to assist job seekers that I know from my community and among my friends and family.

  3. Michael Peterson says:

Jason has done a nice job helping the rest of us navigate and maximize our use of social media. I recommend adopting his program, it looks to be a good resource.

  4. D.Bateman says:

Nicely done…good info on ways to nurture relationships via Linkedin.

  5. Hyrum Anderton says:

Jason broke it down and made it simple to use make the most of it. I would defiantly use it and I think it would help a lot of (school name removed) alum

  6. Great info – especially for the person new to LinkedIn.

  7. drdtucker says:

Enjoyed it, and if I was looking intently would probably work through the material as part of the process.

  8. Robert H says:

Great videos. Not longer than they need to be. Job seekers (and there are a lot of them) need to know what kind of resource LinkedIn can be, and every little bit helps. I also think a few key videos is probably going to be more effective than a huge library of resources, so I think you’re headed in the right direction there.

  9. David Clingo says:

The content is excellent and I’ve already put some of it immediately into play in marketing multiple services that I work with.. I did, howver, struggle a little with the first video as it seems the format of the LinkedIn home page is a big different from mine. Thanks for allowing us to view these. I believe they will be really valuable in my business marketing.

  10. Jason says:

Thought these were great. Really helped me understand how to better network and utilize linkedin in ways I that had not occurred to me in the past. I agree that this would be a great resource for (school name removed) alumni.

  11. David says:

I watched both videos and learned a lot from watching them. I would definitely be interested in the other videos. There’s a lot more to LInkedIn than I am utilizing. I also picked up Jason Alba’s book.

  12. Brett Sanford says:

The videos are helpful – simple and actionable. It would be great to have more access to these types of training videos.

  13. Peggy Wilbur says:

I really appreciated this information! I am in the job market and I have been feeling like someone backed the dump truck up to my door and just let go! So much to grasp and feeling a bit overwhelmed. So giving it in bits and pieces is really great because it gives me just enough to work on and begin to learn how to us it. I think this is terrific and can’t wait to pass it on to friends who have been stumped with how to utilize LinkedIn at all! Thank you!

  14. Daniel Webster says:

Appears to be a worthwhile tool as it teaches sections rather than teaching all of LinkedIn in one session.

  15. Greg says:

Good videos, great advice. I would like to see a shorter 1 minute summary version for each.

  16. I love the tone of the video. It presents networking in a non-pushy way and is very practical.

  17. Eric says:

I did not watch the videos, because job seeking is not directly applicable to me. That said, I do think that video tutorials of this nature for job creators and/or small businesses that are networking for qualified sales leads would be very useful to me and other alumni in similar positions.

  18. Cameron Jenkins says:

I found the videos to have useful information that I could incorporate quickly and would make my profile standout.

  19. Barry Robinson says:

Awesome job, I will never look at Linked In the same going forward. Absolutely make these available on the (school name removed) alumni site.

  20. Kerry says:

This was helpful to me. I look forward to viewing additional videos.

  21. Donna Casebourn says:

I was displaced three years ago and was able to find his video’s very beneficial. I would love and look forward to more offerings.

  22. Jacob says:

I found the first video really helpful. The second one had good suggestions, but there were no good examples of how to apply those suggestions. All he said was what was wrong with people’s summaries; he did not show an example of a good one. Aside from that, I think this would be a very useful tool for (school name removed) students and alumni. I just hope there are videos on how to actually get people to read your profile and offer jobs.

  23. Marcine says:

I found this very helpful. I am on LinkedIn but don’t have the time to psyche-out the best strategy is for using it. Until I was released from my current job, I have been working 45-50 hours a week and being a daughter, wife, mom, and grandmother as well as active in the community. I didn’t have time to learn all the newest techniques for finding a job and do those things.
I graduated in 1971 and am statistically close to retirement, but expect to have to work until I can’t anymore. I need this video training style of cheatsheet to help me develop current and future possibilities.
This is the first thing on the alumni mailings that I have felt was useful. Mostly when I read those postings, I get impatient and leave the site.
What I need is the ability to connect with alumni in this area (Salem, Oregon) and tell my story quickly and hear theirs. I’d like to connect with (school name removed) alumni and professionals in this area — and not just those who are looking for jobs. We are not connected at all well. I’d like to develop a (school name removed) Alumni presence on the ground here, but I’d settle for localizing my (school name removed) postings. This LinkedIn info can help with that.

  24. Robbie says:

I found the videos helpful in thinking about LinkedIn as a more active tool. Really liked the commentary that gives real examples. Would have liked a good example in the 2nd video of a good summary.

  25. Brian says:

Both of the videos contain great instruction. I started my Linkedin months before my job search started. This would have been a huge help to me in that early effort. Even now, many of Jason’s ideas will help me refine what I already have.
