How to Say Thank You: The Guide! At Least 14 Scenarios…

how to say thank you - the guide

If you need help with how to say thank you, you are in the right place!

You know you should be writing thank you notes, right? But when is the last time you did? I have a ton of people that I need to send thank you cards to, on behalf of JibberJobber. I even bought 50 cards and have them in my office, but for some reason I’m not doing it. Part of it is procrastination, but another part is that I don’t want to sound like a dork.

If you have that “sound like a dork” problem, I have just the answer for you. One of my partners, Liz Handlin (Ultimate Resumes), wrote an eBook just for you (it’s FREE!!)… with a bunch of examples on how to write Thank You notes. Almost word-for-word from her blog post, this includes:

  1. This is going to sound totally heartless — but it is really about how to execute doing personal thank you notes.

I have a file in my briefcase. In it is a set of thank you notes, envelopes, and stamps. Yes, the complete package needed to send out a personal thank you note.

I either put doing a thank you note on the “to do” list or I do it immediately. In either case, I pull out my file and all the stuff I need to do the thank you note is right there.

Yes, it’s really wierd. But I think most people don’t send the thank you notes because they don’t have the right stuff at the right time in the right place. I do, and as a result, I send mine.

And yes, the advice and frames for the thank you notes were great!

Thank you so much for posting about the thank you note book today!! I appreciate it. And Scott, I think you are right that people intend to send thank you notes but often do not do so because they either don’t have the proper equipment (notes, stamps) or they can’t think of anything to say. I hope this little booklet can get a few people started toward getting those thank yous in the mail.

    have a great weekend.

  3. Many people don’t think about the importance of sending a thank-you note until they receive one…and then they remember how good it feels to know someone took the time. Just giving up 10 minutes of checking out YouTube or MySpace could provide time to send a couple of notes…and earn you a lot of goodwill in return.
